The Kramat Jati Sub-district Environmental Service Unit, East Jakarta has monitored the mandatory use of eco-friendly shopping bags in Kramat Jati Market and 14 minimart outlets.

Kramat Jati Environmental Executing Unit Head Amri Restu Rianto said that the monitoring itself involved as many as five officers. As a result of monitoring at Kramat Jati Market, a number of business locations, such as cosmetics, medicine, fruit and clothing stores, have used eco-friendly shopping bags.

"Including in the 14 minimart outlets," he expressed, Monday (7/6).

He added it would be done continuously in a bid to ensure that communities and businesses comply with policies on using eco-friendly shopping bags in traditional markets, minimarts and other places of business.
